FLEE

Flee tells the story of Amin Nawabi as he grapples with a painful secret he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon to be husband. Recounted mostly through animation to director Jonas Poher Rasmussen, he tells for the first time the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan.

Q&A With Aaron Wertheimer to Follow

In town for work, Kenny meets Aaron, who convinces him to extend his trip for a few days to check out the famous sights of Chicago.

Aaron, is a writer and filmmaker based in Skokie, Illinois, where he lives with his wife and two kids. He has written and directed three feature films: Wedgerino, a timely comedy about best friends who have to box each other to earn money to pay rent; Skippers, a meditative type of comedy about a drifter searching for transcendence through stone skipping; and Not If I See You First. He also produces films, collects records, rides bikes and plays pickleball.​​

A happily married father of two, shaken by a message written in a birthday card for his daughter, abruptly leaves his family for a week - long trek through the Grand Canyon. Following his solo trek, we see his memories of an earlier trip through the Grand Canyon with a different woman.

For the first time, The Wilmette Theatre and George Mangan present the following film as part of the Cult Classic Film Series extending into the summer!
