Every year, the Wilmette Chamber of Commerce's Ridge Road Fall Fest brings out the fun, family atmosphere that Wilmette is so well known for. Adults and kids flock to this neighborhood event, kicking off the autumn season with a lively start. The Wilmette Chamber of Commerce provides free pony rides, a moon bounce, face painting, balloon animals, give-aways, and special treats.

Neighborhood camaraderie is a big part of the ninth annual Fall Fest on Ridge Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 25. All along Ridge Road, from Wilmette Avenue to Lake Avenue, Wilmette chamber-member stores open their doors to the energy of the festival.

Need a night out? Well, "Ladies Night Out" has it covered. According to Nili Yelin, who represents the Wilmette Theatre, "The Ladies Night Out is a great way to get a group of friends together and stroll through downtown Wilmette and see all it has to offer."

Participating businesses range from gift shops, kids and women's clothing, home decor, crystal, outdoor barbecue, antiques and jewelry to florists, restaurants, coffee bars and the local movie house.

After the shopping events, comedian Patti Vasquez will be featured at the Wilmette Theatre. Tickets are available at www.wilmettetheatre.com or by calling the Wilmette Theatre box office at (847) 251-7424. And if you show a receipt from a Village Center purchase that evening, you'll receive a free drink.

This, then is the story of how the theatre grew and developed, the theatre’s Life’s Journey.

Wilmette Theatre: A Treasure on the North Shore

As is sadly the case for so many Chicagoland landmarks, the Wilmette Theatre was slated for a redevelopment project. It had hosted live entertainment as well as films for almost 100 years. Carole Dibo and Sam Samuelson spearheaded an effort to save the theater and as the current owners they are not only preserving but also enhancing this North Shore treasure, creating an alternative entertainment destination in the process.
