Matt Miller's Virtual Showcase is a service for Chicago area actors to gain more exposure with local casting directors, agents, theatres, young filmmakers, and other industry professionals. Think of it as the digital equivalent to a traditional headshot mailing. [We] open Matt Miller's virtual showcase as soon as we get the link each month! Often we are working on new projects and we will invite actors in from the showcase, or at the very least, if we see something we like, we bring the actor in for a general audition so we can get to know them better. Here's the deal:
 
Participating actors will be scheduled for a fifteen minute recording slot on Saturday, May 26th at the Actors Training Center (1122 Central Avenue, Wilmette) at the Wilmette Theatre. 
This is a special edition of the Virtual Showcase that I produce a couple times a year featuring only teen and pre-teen actors.
 
The actual showcase footage will consist of a brief personal interview, a small piece of commercial copy I give actors in advance to prepare, and a one minute monologue/scene that actors bring in on their own. (Note: this is not a class or a coaching, but I will try to make you look good!)
 
After your recording session, I will edit your footage and post it to a link on my website that is then distributed to an ever growing list of industry professionals (for starters, the link is sent directly to all the major casting directors in town, every legitimate SAG franchised agency, a bevy of small to mid-sized theatres, and close to 85 directors, photographers and independent producers/casting directors.)
 
The cost is $60/actor to cover space rental, equipment costs, and my time.
Actors participating in the showcase will also have the link emailed to them for approval before it is released.
 
There's no guarantee, of course, but the likelihood of these professionals watching the showcase footage is much greater than just cold submissions in the mail--especially because I have relationships with almost all of them. At the very least, it is MUCH more cost effective than a traditional headshot mailing. (Mailing a headshot to a quarter the people this link goes to would cost you well over $60.) 
 
Also, and perhaps most importantly, industry folks can hang onto the link for future reference. It's active for a year.
