In the town of Martin, Tennessee, Chip Hines, a precocious six year old, has only known life with his two dads, Cody and Joey. And a good life it is. When Cody dies suddenly in a car accident, Joey and Chip struggle to find their footing again. Just as they begin to, Cody's will reveals that he named his sister as Chip's guardian. The years of Joey's acceptance into the family unravel as Chip is taken away from him. In his now solitary home life, Joey searches for a solution. The law is not on his side, but friends are. Armed with their comfort and inspired by memories of Cody, Joey finds a path to peace with the family and becomes closer to his son.

A remarkably fresh and unpredictable drama...one of the most accomplished and undersold directorial debuts this year" - The New York Times, Critics' Pick
“4 STARS…. I was completely absorbed from beginning to end….What a courageous first feature this is, a film that sidesteps shopworn stereotypes and tells a quiet, firm, deeply humanist story about doing the right thing…. May signal the opening of an important career.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times
“A beautifully written and performed plea for understanding… the tale recalls the social realism of John Cassavetes with long takes in which silence and the faces of those in emotional pain are as potent as words… Wang’s meticulously modulated storytelling never flags and… will move many viewers with its dignity and restraint.” – Variety
Critics’ Pick “A remarkably fresh and unpredictable drama… one of the most accomplished and undersold directorial debuts this year” – New York Times

Movie with Live Cast! All New Show!
Come up to the lab and see what's on the slab! It's The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), a screamingly funny, sinfully twisted salute to sci-fi, horror, B-movies and rock music. This weird and wonderful musical film phenomenon will make you shiver with antici...pation!
Adapted by director Jim Sharman and Richard O’Brien from O’Brien’s glam and punk rock inspired UK stage musical The Rocky Horror Show, the madcap, musical mayhem begins when rain-soaked typical square American couple Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Oscar winner Susan Sarandon) take refuge in the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry, in his iconic gender-bending performance), a transvestite mad scientist from outer space who is about to unveil his greatest creation - and have a bit of fun with his reluctant guests! Also present is his strange butler Riff-Raff (Richard O’Brien), weird maid Magenta (Patricia Quinn), rock and roll motorcyclist Eddie (rock star Meat Loaf) and his tap-dancing groupie Columbia ("Little Nell" Campbell). The most popular cult classic of all time!
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an extraordinary phenomenon-- an enduring worldwide cult success, beginning in the USA at late-night screenings, where attendees would dress up, chant lines and comebacks in unison, pull visual gags, dance, sing and more for the audience to enjoy. The ultimate audience-participation film, this campy horror send-up is hosted here at the Wilmette Theatre by Chicago TV's horror/scifi host Undead Johnny and is performed with a live cast The World of the Weird Monster Show in a unique shadowcast performance that both duplicates and parodies the action taking place onscreen for a fabulously entertaining multimedia late-night show. And you can join in the fun as well, with plenty of opportunities for the audience to dig into their participation prop bags (sold at the door, complete with instructions) and enter the wild fun! And there's even a spooktacularly amazing pre-show!
The World of the Weird Monster Show is a sketch comedy/horror host television program which has been scaring laughs out of Chicagoland residents for 7 seasons now. Starring Undead Johnny, the World of the Weird Monster Show follows the activities of the misfits who make up the Channel 666 staff while showcasing classic (and not-so-classic) horror/sci-fi and other genre films. The World of the Weird Monster Show made it's broadcast debut on Halloween Night, 2004. The program airs Friday nights at 11pm on Comcast Cable in selected areas and also online on The Monster Channel (monsterchannel.tv) Wednesday nights at 7pm. And now you can see them live hosting The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Wilmette Theatre!
