Description:
This fun-filled class will introduce students to the joy of creating a play with their own plot, character
and theme. Students will build self-esteem, focus their creativity, and learn to work as a team. The last 15
minutes each week will be open to parents.

Imagine (3rd-5th grade)

Description:
This interactive class teaches young actors to embrace their imaginations by embarking on journeys through
classic stories, brought to life through the magic of theatre. Through games, storytelling, and
improvisation, students will learn to use their full body, voice and imaginations to tackle the challenges
characters face in these timeless narratives. This class is perfect for beginning actors.

Description:
Designed for the young actor who has trained at ATC. This class is performance based, focusing on the art of
engaging an audience. Students will adapt literature (poetry, picture books, novels and lyrics) into an
interactive original piece, written by the ensemble and performed on the final day of class.
This class is perfect for returning students ready for a challenge. Out of class work expected.

Description:
The only on-camera class offered on the North Shore for 3rd-5th graders. This class explores the “fun”-damentals
of on-camera acting through games and exercises. Students will shoot in our professional studio, work from actual
industry copy and analyze their work as its played back each week. This class is perfect for students who want to
learn how to be themselves in front of a camera in a safe and supportive environment.

Description:
Learning how to build a specific character is the first step toward becoming a strong actor. This core acting
class teaches the skills necessary to create a believable character through exercises and assigned scenes.
This class is perfect for students ready to focus on character and scene study. Out of class work expected.

Description:
The only professional on-camera class on the North Shore for 6th-8th graders. This class provides a comprehensive
overview of on-camera technique, as well as what to consider when beginning a career in the on-camera industry.
Students will shoot in our professional studio, work from actual industry copy and analyze their work as its
played back each week.
This class is perfect for students who want to learn how to be themselves in front of a camera, while still
giving the casting director exactly what they’re looking for in an audition.

Advanced students will continue their film and TV training by working with actors from a wide age range.
Students will learn to be simple and honest by finding specificity in character and scene. This class will
feature two Master Classes taught with Chicago agents and casting directors.
Out of class work expected.Prerequisite: Previous On-Camera experience.

Description:
Using a variety of short and long-form games and techniques, this class teaches students the essentials of
successful improvisation - to think on their feet, react honestly, support scene partners and play with full
abandonment. This is improv designed for actors, with the focus on being believable instead of trying to be funny.
The class will feature a final improvised performance showcasing their training.
This class is perfect for students wanting to take risks and explore the world of unscripted acting.

Advanced students continue their training to create a long-form improv troupe. Students will deepen their improv
work - building strong characters and realistic relationships in their scenes, committing to big choices,
weaving patterns and connections into their piece, and working organically as an ensemble. This advanced troupe
will feature a final performance alongside Professional Improvisers at The Wilmette Theatre on Dec. 12th at 5:00 PM.
Featuring a Master Class taught by a Chicago improv legend (to be announced).
Prerequisite: Previous long-form Improv experience.

Description:
Get out of your own way and embrace the skills you need to become a competitive actor. Moving from scene study
and monologue work to cold reading and audition skills, students will finish this class with confidence in
their work as an actor.
Necessary for actors of all skill levels. Out of class work expected.
College Extension:
High school juniors and seniors meet one hour early, specifically to prepare for their college auditions:
covering which colleges are the best fit for them (BA, BFA, vs. Conservatory program), interviews, headshot/resume,
and dealing with nerves. Price: $100.
